Weekend Cover Business Travel Consultant - Remote

We're recruiting for an experienced Business Travel Consultant to provide out-of-hours emergency support for a specialist travel business.
This is a slightly different opportunity, offering the chance to work evenings and weekends without being tied to a desk for the entire time. You'll be the first point of contact for clients who need urgent help with last-minute changes to their travel arrangements, providing a reassuring and knowledgeable service when the office is closed.

The Opportunity
We're working with a specialist business travel company looking for someone to take responsibility for their out-of-hours emergency phone over the weekend.
The cover will run from approximately 2pm on Friday through to 9am on Monday, with flexibility around the exact hours and the potential to pick up additional daytime hours on Fridays and Mondays.
Importantly, this isn't about sitting at your computer all weekend waiting for the phone to ring! You'll just need to be contactable and able to log on when required to help clients who need urgent assistance with their travel plans. Some weekends will be busier than others and the times of the calls will vary but you’ll still be able to have a life around the job.
The phone is exclusively for emergency situations and last-minute changes. It's not an extension of the company's normal opening hours, so you'll only be dealing with clients who genuinely need help outside the usual working day.
There's flexibility to discuss the hours and make the arrangement work around the right person but there will be core weekend hours that aren’t negotiable.
What you’ll be doing
Taking responsibility for the out-of-hours emergency phone from Friday afternoon through to Monday morning.
Supporting clients who need urgent changes to their business travel arrangements.
Handling flight changes, cancellations and other last-minute travel emergencies.
Using Galileo to amend, reissue and manually ticket airline reservations.
Providing a calm, professional and reassuring service, particularly when clients are dealing with unexpected travel disruption.
Ensuring all bookings are updated thoroughly and a smooth handover is done for the weekday team on Monday.
What we’re looking for
Strong Galileo GDS experience is essential- we can’t be flexible on this unfortunately.
Confident handling airline ticketing and manual ticket reissues without guidance.
Previous experience in business travel, ideally with some VIP , Media or Entertainment experience.
Someone who is comfortable working independently and making decisions when needed.
Excellent customer service skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Someone reliable, responsive and happy to be the first point of contact when clients need help.
Amazing attention to detail and able to commit to the hours required.
A great place to start
This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced Business Travel Consultant who doesn't necessarily want another traditional full-time role. Perhaps you want something that fits around family commitments, prefer your days off to be in the week or simply enjoy the buzz of being there when your clients need you most!
You won't be chained to your desk all weekend, but you'll play an important role in making sure travel issues are sorted with as little stress to your clients as possible.
There's also scope to pick up additional hours during the day on Fridays and Mondays should you want to work a few more hours.
With an excellent salary on offer you really will be being paid a very healthy amount for what we’re sure will be less work than you do now!
