The Opportunity
If conversations are your thing, our latest role could be just what you’re looking for!
We’re recruiting for a Sales Development Representative to join a business that takes the hassle out of corporate travel for other companies. Your mission? Find businesses that could benefit from having a dedicated travel partner, get to know their needs and open the door to new opportunities.
This isn’t about making calls for the sake of it or ticking names off a list. It’s about having proper, quality conversations that make people think, “Actually, we should be talking to these people!”
You’ll use your research skills, curiosity and commercial instinct to identify potential clients, get conversations started and arrange qualified meetings for the senior sales team to take forward.
You’ll need to enjoy sales, be motivated by targets and have the confidence to speak to people you’ve never met before. But just as importantly, you’ll know how to ask the right questions, listen properly and leave people with a great impression.
The basic salary is £28,000, with commission on top and a guaranteed minimum of £1,000 per month in variable earnings for your first six months while you find your feet. There’s also the flexibility of hybrid working once you’ve completed your initial training and settled into the role.
What you’ll be doing
Researching and identifying potential clients across a range of channels, finding businesses that could benefit from a dedicated corporate travel partner.
Getting creative with your outreach and using your initiative to reach decision-makers and start meaningful conversations.
Asking intelligent questions to understand a company’s current travel arrangements, future plans and potential challenges.
Working towards a target of 10 properly qualified meetings per month for the senior sales team.
Opening doors, creating opportunities and helping prospective clients understand the value of the service your company provides.
Keeping track of your activity, nurturing relationships and staying in touch with prospects who might be ready to talk further down the line.
Taking ownership of your pipeline and making sure promising opportunities don’t disappear simply because the timing isn’t quite right.
What we’re looking for
You’ll ideally have experience in B2B sales, particularly over the phone, and be comfortable picking up the phone to someone who wasn’t necessarily expecting your call.
You’ll also be someone who:
Has a confident, personable telephone manner and can build rapport with people from a range of businesses.
Is naturally curious and knows how to ask questions, listen to the answers and uncover potential opportunities.
Is proactive, resourceful and happy to try different approaches rather than waiting for things to happen.
Is motivated by targets, enjoys achieving results and likes the idea of earning commission for their efforts.
Is tenacious and resilient. You’ll hear “no” along the way, but you understand that it doesn’t always mean “never”.
Can manage their own workload, stay organised and keep track of conversations and follow-ups.
Takes pride in representing a business and making a positive first impression.
Knowledge of the travel industry would be a bonus, but it’s definitely not essential. We’re more interested in your sales ability, attitude and the way you approach conversations.
You’ll need to be based in the UK and happy to attend the office for training. There are office locations in both the North West and South East, and the amount of time you spend there initially will depend on how quickly you and the team feel comfortable with your progress. Once you’re up and running, the role will be hybrid, with flexibility around how that works.
A great place to start
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the people side of sales and wants to do more than work through a list of cold leads.
You’ll be helping to build genuine business relationships, creating opportunities for an experienced sales team and playing an important part in bringing new clients on board.
You’ll have a competitive basic salary of £28,000, plus commission, with a guaranteed minimum of £1,000 per month in variable earnings for your first six months. That gives you some breathing space to learn the ropes, build your pipeline and get comfortable in the role without feeling like you’re starting from scratch.
There’s also the opportunity to make the role your own, use your initiative and develop your sales skills in a business where quality conversations matter.
If you’re naturally curious, enjoy a challenge and can turn an initial conversation into the start of a great business relationship, we’d love to hear from you.
